Privacy Policy

Little Lights helps people connect in real life through guided conversations and games, and — for adults — meet and message new people. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.
Who can use Little Lights
You must be 13 or older to use the App. Meeting and messaging new people you don't already know is limited to adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if you believe a child under 13 has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign up (email/password, or Sign in with Apple or Google), we receive your email and a display name. We never see your Apple/Google password.
- Profile — your display name, and (if you use match-finding) a record that you confirmed you are 18+.
- Content you create — saved Connect conversations (the prompts you moved through and any notes/titles), and the messages you send in shared game rooms and in connections with other people.
- Connections & activity — who you're connected with, connection requests, blocks, and reports you submit.
- Push tokens — a device token so we can send you notifications (via Apple and Google's push services). You can turn notifications off in your device settings.
- Voice input (optional) — if you tap the microphone to speak instead of type in the Repair tools, we record a short audio clip and send it to our transcription provider to turn it into text. The audio itself is not stored — it is transcribed and discarded, and only the resulting text is kept (as content you create). Voice is entirely optional; you can always type instead, and the microphone is only used while you are actively holding to record.
- Technical data — basic device/platform information needed to operate and secure the App.
- Purchases — if you subscribe, our payments provider and the app store process your purchase and tell us your subscription status. We never receive your full card number.
We do not sell your personal information, and we don't run advertising or a public feed.
How we use your information
- To provide the App: run conversations and games, deliver messages, match you with others (if you opt in), and send notifications.
- To power optional AI and voice features: transcribe voice input and generate responses in the Repair tools.
- To process subscriptions and confirm your access to paid features.
- To keep people safe: operate blocking, reporting, and moderation, and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines.
- To maintain and improve reliability and security.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Sharing
- Other users see only your display name and the content you choose to share with them (messages, conversation prompts). They never see your email.
- Service providers that process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage of your content.
- Expo and Apple/Google — push notification delivery.
- Apple/Google — sign-in.
- OpenAI — voice transcription. When you use voice input, your short audio clip is sent to OpenAI to be converted to text and is not retained by us; the audio is discarded after transcription.
- Anthropic — AI assistance in the Repair tools. When you use these features, the minimal text needed (what you write, or your transcribed voice) is sent to Anthropic to generate a response. It is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
- RevenueCat and Apple/Google — processing subscription purchases and telling us your subscription status. We do not receive your card number.
These providers process data under their own privacy and security terms.
- Safety & legal: we may share information (including message logs tied to a report) with moderators or, where required, law enforcement, to investigate abuse or comply with the law.
Retention
- Account and profile data is kept until you delete your account.
- Messages and connections are retained while relevant and then purged on a schedule (game-room chat after about 7 days; ended conversations after about 30 days).
- Reports may be retained longer as a safety/moderation record.
- When you delete your account (Settings → Delete account), we remove your profile, connections, and messages, and attempt to remove your login.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data at any time in Settings → Delete account.
- Notifications: control them in your device settings.
- Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise them.
Security
We use industry-standard measures (including access controls and row-level security) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
International users
Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where we or our providers operate. By using the App you consent to this transfer where permitted by law.
Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated in-app or by other reasonable means, and the effective date above will change.
